BRASIL: Meirelles Decides To Remain Central Banker. Market Relieved.
BLOOMBERG/ Ending 9 months of speculation, Brasil's central bank chief since 2002, Henrique Meirelles declined a run for the Senate or Governor of his home state of Goias after heavy lobbying to stay by President Lula da Silva. "Meirelles’decision will be taken as a positive move because it removes uncertainty and brings stability back to the market,” observes economist Diego Donadio.
