GUATEMALA : Gen. Rios Montt Genocide Trial Begins.
The genocide trial of General Efrain Rios Montt...Guatemala's former military ruler for 17 months in the 1980's...is underway in Cd de Guatemala.
Rios Montt, 86...is being tried for the murders of 1,771 indigena people.
He has denied the charges...and changed lawyers before the start of what is expected to be a long trial.
Their appeal for a postponement was rejected by the court.
Rios Montt has been under house arrest since 2012.
