GERMANY / EUROZONE : Berlin Airport Fiasco Tarnishes German Reputation.

     Berlin's sparkling new international airport...has been delayed again.
     Planned for 2 decades to replace and consolidate 3 smaller airports...it was originally scheduled to open in 2007.
     But its opening has been pushed back 4x times since then...while its budget has doubled to 4.3 billion euros.

     Coupled with other recent boondoggles...Hamburg's opera house, Stuttgart's train station, Cologne's metro and the BND spy HQ...Germany's vaunted reputation for efficiency starts looking shabby...and overstated.
     Some even say the Berlin debacle could cost Berlin's Mayor Klaus Wowereit his job...and political future.
