    Opposing MPs walked out.
Critics say the bill...which President Yanukovich is expected to sign...will shore up his support before October elections.
The bill recognizes Russian in schools and for some public services...in 13 of 27 districts especially the eastern regions.
Thousands also protested the bill's passage in central Kyiv...and police used batons and tear gas to disperse them.
