Unpopular conservative billionaire President Sebastian Pinera has apparently influenced how school textbooks will now describe the brutal right wing rule of Gen. Augusto Pinochet.
Pinochet's 17 years of severe control will be labelled a "regime"...not a "dictatorship".
The change has the opposition howling 'whitewash'... since more than 3,000 disappeared or were killed during Pinochet's reign.
The brand new education minister denies the government exerted any direct influence.
