URUGUAY: Congress Kills 1985 Amnesty Law.

A popular law that protected officers from prosecution for crimes during the 1975-1983 military rule...was revoked by congressional vote...after 12 hours of heated debate.
The measure goes to President Jose Mujica...who has said he will sign it.
Uruguayans twice voted to keep the amnesty...in force since 1985.
