It was described as a battle between the everyman...former PM Milos Zeman...and The Prince...Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg.
The 2nd round run-off for the largely ceremonial position of president was handily won by Zeman, 68...with 55%.
Voters braved icy wintry weather to select their first elected president.
Zeman was the choice of rural voters and was aligned with euroskeptic outgoing President Vaclav Klaus...who recently caused an uproar by freeing over 6,000 inmates.
The wealthy 12th Prince of Schwarzenburg, 75...was favored by the young and elite urban voters.
