A public backlash...after the suicide deaths of 2 distressed homeowners in the past 3 weeks...has forced officials to suspend foreclosure proceedings for 2 years.
A prominent 53 year old Basque politician jumped to her death...while being evicted.
Another survived after a leap in Valencia...while a third evictee hung himself.
There may have been over 400,000 evictions since 2008.
Some even accuse previously intransigent bankers of murder...and there have demonstrations against the harsh measures.
Many of Spain's mortgage laws date back to 1900.
