The egg shortage story in Mexico...has chicken legs.
Ever since a bird flu wiped out over 11 million laying hens in Jalisco state...there has been a shortage of eggs...with reports of widespread price gouging.
A dozen large eggs can cost as much as $3 usd!
Mexicans are the biggest per capita egg consumers on the planet...because eggs are a cheap source of protein...until now.
Even bringing eggs across the USA border wasn't allowed...until recently.
Mexico finally lifted all egg tariffs...and has imported over 906 tons from the USA.
