Santiago, Chile based LAN Airlines has finally completed the merger with Brasil's TAM...creating the world's second biggest airline...with 2011 combined revenue over $13 bn.
The merger could deliver $700 mn in cost savings over 4 years.
A LAN executive says much of the newly named LATAM airlines activity will now center in rapidly growing Brasil...where fares have plunged as competition from low cost lines has soared.
Now...hopefully new LATAM will make its English language website...easier to use... than LAN's version.
If so...USA travelers to Latin America might opt for it...over Delta, United and bankrupt American.
