Officials now report that 30 dangerous Zetas narcos escaped during an early morning riot with Gulf gang members...from the high security area of a prison in Apodaca...just outside Monterrey.
Some guards were taken hostage...and many, including the warden.. are being investigated for aiding the escapees.
44 inmates died...before control was regained.
Officials say that more than 2,500 inmates are housed in the prison.
