Ex-general and new President Otto Perez Molina (foto) says Guatemala can't cope with the costs of fighting the invasion of powerful, violent narco gangs.
After meeting with El Salvador President Mauricio Funes...Perez says he is considering legalizing the use and transport of drugs...and will float the idea at a Central American summit next month.
“Imagine what it would mean,” said Funes. “Producing drugs would no longer be a crime, trafficking drugs would no longer be a crime and consuming drugs would no longer be a crime, so we would be converting the region in a paradise for drug consumption. I personally don’t agree with it and I told President Otto Perez so.”
