CROATIA / SERBIA : 25,000 In Zagreb Protest Cyrillic Signage For Vukovar.
In Zagreb...an estimated 25,000 Croatians...many of them veterans...protested a plan to erect street signs in the city of Vukovar...written in Cyrillic for the minority Serbs.
Vukovar was pummeled and put under siege for 3 months by Serb rebels in the 1991.
Croatians use the Latin alphabet.
A Croatian law requires Cyrillic signage when Serbs comprise 33% of the population.
