Paruyr Hayrikan...1 of 8 candidates for Armenia's presidency...was wounded Thursday during an apparent assassination attempt...near his Yerevan home.
He had a bullet removed from his shoulder.
A former Soviet dissident...Hayrikan, 63...heads the Union for National Self-Determination.
Though he was a long shot candidate...his shooting injury could be used to delay the election for 2 weeks.
