Longish read
Here's a first person report that any foreign correspondent wannabe must read.
Alberto Arce...AP's man in Tegucigalpa...tells about his first year wandering the mostly lawless streets of the Honduran capitol.
Arce writes about the pay-offs/cuotas and bribes/mordidas...taxi drivers/taxistas must pay to mafiosos and gangs/pandillas...and the 51 murdered...in just 6 months...who refused.
He says that he is the ONLY foreign correspondent in Honduras...where more than 2 dozen journalists have been killed since 2010...in a nation that he claims has the world's highest murder rate.
