A USA agency has been pushing Peruvian farmers to switch to cultivating an inferior...but high yield cocoa plant...in place of growing coca leaves used to make cocaine.
That has upset chocolate experts...who worry the nasty, acid-tasting CCN-51 hybrid will replace the rarer but superior native cocoa plants.
