A new Ecuadorian film...'El Pescador'... is based on a true event...and shows the growing importance of Ecuador's location as a narco transit locale.
In 2006...a fastboat loaded with coke...chased by police...dumped its valuable cargo near the small fishing village of El Matal.
Fishermen found and sold all the dope...and spent the cash.
The film stars Andres Crespo...and is directed by Sebastian Cordero.
'El Pescador' has been a hit at LatAm film fests because it treats the lighter side of the narco business...with little violence.
