Bogota's new Mayor Gustavo Petro...and a former rebel...wants all guns off his streets.
So he has allowed police to stop and frisk anyone they believe might be carrying weapons...and confiscate the arms.
A gun can be bought in Bogota for as little as $100.
Basically...only active and retired police and soldiers...plus bodyguards for politicos, judges, prosecutors and diplomats will be permitted to carry handguns.
Gun are rarely banned in Latin America...except for Brasil and Venezuela.
