On Sunday, 22 January...many of Croatia's 4.2 million citizens will vote on joining the EU.
New polling suggests only 53% now approve of the move...with many fearing loss of control.
But by joining the EU...Croatia would be in line for huge subsidies.
President Josipovic defends the action. "The EU will not govern us. The EU will give us a huge opportunity but how we will fare, it depends on us."
