Two experts have accused a TV series about the Amazon's Machigenga tribe of "faking" scenes and mistranslating interviews to negatively portray the tribe as "sex-obsessed, mean savages".
The 6-part series called "Mark and Olly: Living with the Machigenga" aired on the BBC and the USA's Travel channel.
"I am shocked by Mark and Olly's narcissistic antics, their gross misrepresentations of Matsigenka culture and their disregard for consequences inflicted on native communities," said one of the experts. "I wonder what "Living with the Machigenga" was modeled on. Borat comes to mind."
