MEXICO: March Consumer Prices Rise Neatly 5% Due To "Salsa Spike."

Mexico’s annual inflation rate rose to the highest level in 7 months as costs increased for vegetables, airline fares and tourist packages. March prices rose 4.97% compared to 2009. “The relatively high March headline inflation reading was largely part of the salsa effect, as volatile ingredients like tomatoes and onions spiked up,” said economist Luis Arcentales.
