Ahead of a planned...possibly massive...protest tomorrow on 'Russia Day'...Moscow police ransacked the homes of President Putin's leading opposition leaders.
A statement said 10 homes were searched...including those of Alexei Navalny, Ilya Yashin, Sergei Udaltsov and Ksenia Sobchak.
Police also forced them to come in for questioning.
Putin recently signed a new law that raises the penalties for illegal protesters...by 150-fold ...to over $9,000...the average annual salary.
It may be another case of the adage...that you can take the man out of the KGB...but you can't take the KGB/FSB...out of the man.
Human rights groups are protesting the searches...and intimidation measures.
