Those of Polish ancestry...including this blog's editor...are often extremely sensitive to the seemingly never ending 'jokes' about alleged stupidities...and the existence of several infamous Nazi death camps located on their soil in WW2.
This time...the bad joke is on Obama.
President Obama stepped into some of that nasty mess...after he referred to 'Polish death camps'...while honoring dead resistance hero Jan Karski...at a White House ceremony.
PM Donald Tusk (foto) and Foreign Minister Sikorski both blasted Obama.
Tusk claimed Obama had 'offended all Poles.'
"When someone says 'Polish death camps,' it is as if there were no Nazis, no German responsibility, as if there were no Hitler," said Tusk.
Tusk rejected a presidential spokesman's apology.
What is surprising, of course, is that Obama hails from Chicago...the home of over 1 million Americans of Polish ancestry. One would certainly think that he knew better!
UPDATE: Polish President Komorowski receives Obama's 'regret' letter.
