    Grim news about kidnappings...especially in Mexico City.
    Reported kidnappings surged by 23.4%...y/y...in the last 6 mos of 2011...to 6 per day.
    One NGO estimates that...ONLY 10% of kidnappings are even reported.
    The official data also doesn't include the widespread express kidnappings/secuestros expresos...where a victim...held for several hours...is driven around to ATMs and forced to withdraw money.
    In the DF...many taxi drivers are involved in secuestros.
