A traditional dumpling-eating contest in the town of Tokmak went horribly wrong after the 77-year-old winner keeled over and died.
Ivan Mendel ate 10 potato dumplings called varenki in just 30 seconds...winning a one liter jar of sour cream...when he got sick and fell to the ground.
A witness said :"The ambulance arrived when he was already dead. The doctor said that he probably choked on vomit."
