BRASIL : 19 Mar UPDATE : 28 Dead From Petropolis Mudslides; 50 Homes Destroyed.

        Heavy rains in Brasil's former imperial capital of Petropolis in Rio state...caused mudslides that have killed at least 28 residents...in just 24 hours.
        18 people have been injured...and almost 1,500 have been left homeless.
        Petropolis received more rain in one day...than it gets in the entire month of March.
              12 rivers in Rio state have overflowed...and landslides cover many highways.
              At least 50 homes were destroyed.
              250 soldiers have been mobilized to help residents in 21 districts.
              In 2011...more than 900 in the area died from heavy rains and mudslides.
