In Davos...Kyiv is expected to sign a shale gas production deal with Royal Dutch Shell worth $10 billion...and gradually reduce its dependence on Russian nat gas.
Scientists estimate that eastern Ukraine may hold up to 42 trillion cubic feet of nat gas.
Leaked details are that Shell will give Kyiv 31% of all output until the break even point is reached.
But actual production is still years away...while 15 test wells are sunk.
