      The annual celebration of the "Day of the Young Combatants"...has become a day of disturbances.
      In Santiago and other cities...while 22 were injured...and 228 arrested...police admitted violence was less than previous years.

     The Day marks the deaths of 2 leftist brothers in 1985...Rafael and Eduardo Vergara Toledo...killed in Santiago during a protest against dictator Gen. Pinochet.

         Thousands in Santiago marched mourning gay Daniel Zamudio, 24...protesting homophobia and demanding a new hate law...after Zamudio, 24...died from torture injuries inflicted on 3 March by alleged neo-nazis.
