2011 may go down as the most violent year in Venezuela's history.
An NGO says it is on pace to set a new record for murders...with 19,336 killed...an average of 53 per day...based on government stats.
However...with the NGO's own stats...the rate is even higher...67 per 100,000...surpassing Colombia and even Mexico.
But Honduras may still hold the record for Latin America.
In 2010...it recorded 82 murders per 100,000.
It is so violent there that the USA's Peace Corps will withdraw all its volunteers in January.
