Thousands of anti-corruption protesters converged in downtown Rio.
They took 594 symbolic brooms...representing the 81 senators and 513 members of the lower house...erected on the famous Copacabana beachfront by the NGO...Rio For Peace...to the notorious downtown Cinelandia Plaza.
“The purpose of our initiative is to make people aware of the extent of rampant corruption and to demand greater transparency in the management of public funds, since the deviation of funds is responsible for the death of thousands of Brazilians” said Rio For Peace's leader Antonio Carlos Costa.
Four of new President Dilma Rousseff's cabinet have already resigned after alleged corruption charges.
