Sunday was Bolivia's first "National Day of the Pedestrian".
All motorized vehicles, including buses, were banned.
Officials told REUTERS that 2 million cars were taken off the streets in nine cities.
It has the trappings of a PR move because President Morales is under attack by critics for plans to finish a highway through the Amazon.
He has claimed to be an advocate for indigena people and the protection of "Mother Earth"...but hundreds of indigena are marching thru the Amazon to protest the highway's completion.
