PANAMA: Indigena Clash With Police Over Mining On Ancestral Lands.

  200 police clashed with dozens of Guaymi indigena armed with spears, sticks and stones protesting copper mining on their ancestral lands.
   Violence broke-out when police tried to clear the protestors from a bridge on a major highway outside of Panama City. Reportedly several police were injured.
   Last week the congress approved a law opening-up the western Ngobe-Bugle reservation to foreign mining projects.
