CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Obama's Ex-Advisor Emanuel Gets Karmic Blowback As Locals Question Eligibility.

NYTIMES/ MONICA DAVEY /
For the third day, Rahm Emanuel, former White House chief of staff and the man who would be mayor of Chicago, is undergoing a grilling by locals who believe he should not be allowed to run.
They are questioning Emanuel's eligibility for February’s election, because candidates must be city residents for a full year before Election Day.
They contend he lived in Washington, D.C.
Emanuel is notorious in politics for using sharp elbows and an f*bomb-laden vocabulary.
Some 30 Chicagoans filed formal challenges to his candidacy.
Many of those in the packed basement meeting room groaned at his comments, shot homemade videos of the proceedings and were permitted often meandering questions.
Newly revealed was a demand for $100,000 by Emanuel's renters to end their lease early when he returned to Chicago this fall. Emanuel called that "ridiculous" and counter-offered $5,000 a month for every month early the renters left. The lease expires in mid-2011.
