M.HERALD/ CUBAN COLADA BLOG/
Perhaps no story better exemplifies Cuba's way of life and current economic woes than this post.
It comes from an expose in the communist daily newspaper "Granma" that reveals the use of railroad ties and tracks for the construction of homes in Villa Clara province.
It reports that since 2004, more than 300 homes have been built with supplies illegally removed from stretches of railroad. In the city of Corralillo, the total length of the railroad tracks used for construction was almost 10 kilometers – more than 6 miles!
