MOMENTO24/ The courage of German worker August Landmesser is on display in an old photo from before World War II.
In 1936, Landmesser was in Hamburg as the German navy vessel Horst Wessel was launched with Adolf Hitler in attendance. But Landmesser was the only one of thousands pictured who refused to perform the accepted salute.
And, he paid eventually for his courage..with his life.
A sad but true tale recently revealed.
