BRASIL: Gulf Oil Mess Unlikely To Slow Petrobras Deep Water Drilling.
REUTERS/ FORXYARD.COM/ Petrobras is not planning to slow tapping its massive deep water reserves. It already tightened safety regulations following a major disaster in 2001. "Those accidents could increase insurance contracts but I don't think companies would change investments because of that," said an analyst. In 2001, Petrobras' P-36 offshore platform exploded and killed 11. It sank off Rio five days later, spilling 10,000 barrels of fuel and crude into the Atlantic.
