BELIZE : Road Crews Destroy Ancient Mayan Pyramid...To Fill Potholes.

Some residents of Belize really hate potholes.
So much so...that last week...a crew destroyed a 2,300 year-old...100 foot Mayan temple ruin at Noh Mul...to use its limestone gravel to level roads.
Backhoes and bulldozers knocked down history in the ancient settlement...despite it being against the law...punishable by a $10,000 fine.
There has been an outcry by archaeologists...who condemned the 'ignorance' of local contractors.
