        Romantic Venice...is soggy again...after a 56 inch tide inundated it.

      Seasonal high water levels...acqua alta...resulting from annual tides...have been augmented by heavy local snowfalls and rains.

     Restaurants, hotels and churches are soaked.
     Some estimate that 60% of the canal city was flooded...with its 15th highest tide in history.
