The residents of 6 small villages in Guerrero state no longer trust police to protect themselves from narcos...and criminals.
They have taken up arms...and set-up checkpoints at entrances to examine and question visitors.
At least 37 suspects have been detained since the vigilante actions began.
The residents of Ayutla de los Libres, Tecoanapa, Florencio Villarreal, Cuautepec, Copala and San Marcos say they grew tired of nonstop extortions, kidnappings and drug peddling in schools.
Guerrero Governor Aguirre Rivero now says he will send additional forces to the villages.
