Experts say Brasil's evangelical movement that swept thru the nation in the 1990s has slowed.
65% of Brasilians still claim to be Catholic...but few still attend services.
In Sao Paulo...a former pop star turned priest...Father Marcelo Rossi...is building a huge sanctuary to attract them.
It will seat 6,000...with standing room inside for 14,000...and room outside for 80,000 to watch mass on giant video screens.
Father Rossi is a Latin Grammy nominated singer...who likes to shower followers with buckets of holy water...and sings live...with lively Christian tunes...during services.
Will Rossi's unusual and expensive worship work...bring back all those lapsed Catholics in Brasil's surging middle-class...interested in buying new consumer goods...all obtained with cheaper credit?
