A confrontation between rival gangs is being blamed for a riot in the Yare 1 prison near Caracas in Miranda state...that killed 25...including a visitor...and injured 43 more...including visitors.
A nearby resident also died from stray gunfire.
Officials say the situation is now under control.
For years...Venezuela's prisons have suffered from severe overcrowding and inmate rioting.
