Kidney disease is the second biggest killer among men in El Salvador.
In Nicaragua it kills more men than HIV and diabetes combined.
But scientists still aren't sure about the epidemic's cause.
But their educated guesses point to...pesticides and herbicides used in farming.
"These chemicals are banned in the USA, Europe and Canada...and they are used here without protection...and in large amounts..." said a local doctor.
