After 2 months of uncharacteristic silence and physical absence...Fidel Castro finally emerged from the inky shadows of La Habana.
He sat down for an interview with Venezuelan TV...yet to be aired in Cuba or Caracas.
“I hate to inform those who are enjoying themselves by believing that Commandante Fidel has had a stroke that he is alive and kicking” said host Mario Silva on a Cuban approved website.
The retired dictator apparently likes to keep his opposition, aka "Los Gusanos" in Miami anxious about his health.
He had not appeared in public since April...when he looked very frail.
Fidel also stopped writing his infamous opinion pieces for the state newspaper Granma and a website in July.
Finally when he failed to acknowledge his 85th, 86th or 87th birthday celebration (depending on the expert) in August...rumors...most coming from Venezuela...spread like a Texas wildfire.
A virus about a dead Fidel even appeared on the web.
But Fidel...now truly dead.
Apparently...not true.
Not...yet.
ALSO: Cuba has revoked the "license" of a veteran Spanish journalist...for "bias and negative reporting."
Mauricio Vicent, 47, of EL PAIS suddenly had his press credentials revoked...after living in and covering Cuba for 20 years. He is married to a Cuban.
