Narcos have expanded into major thefts of petroleum from Pemex.
In just the first 4 months of 2011...$250mn usd of oil has been siphoned-off...more than the total for all of 2010....at the rate of about 20,000 bbls daily.
At this rate, Pemex theft could total 1 mn bbls...and a whopping loss of $750 mn usd in 2011!
Pemex itself reports that : "The increase in theft...is due to the fact that the pipeline system has been virtually taken over by groups associated with organized crime."
Mexico depends on Pemex for 33% of its income.
