Ukraine is currently talking with Exxon Mobil, Chevron and Shell about searching for shale gas there and its parliament has passed legislation to facilitate opening its domestic natural gas market to shale gas producers.
The Ukraine like other nations wants to lessen dependence on energy imports from Russia's Gazprom and the Middle East.
“Unconventional gas will be a game-changer throughout Europe,” claims a VP of a company that pioneered the nat gas fracking technology. “We’re the mouse that roared.”
Neighboring Poland is about three years ahead of Kiev in the shale gas search with some exploratory wells drilled.
