A Rice University research group speculates that Pemex would lose its capacity to export crude in a decade...without major new investments in exploration and production.
Mexico is currently the 3rd largest exporter to the USA and depends on oil sales for almost a third of its budget.
Pemex production has fallen 25% from its 2004 peak mostly because of the depletion of the aging Cantarell field .
The report claims: “It would appear that the days of easy oil are over for Pemex”.
