BRASIL: Drought Reveals Stone Age Etchings Near Manaus.

GUARDIAN/
Because of a severe 100-year drought in the Amazon region, a number of ancient underwater etchings were uncovered near Manaus.
The images - perhaps 7,000 years old - were found engraved on rocks in the Rio Negro.
"There has always been this idea that the Amazon was empty. The truth is that this hypothesis is not correct. In many parts of the Amazon we now have proof of settlements," said archeologist Eduardo Neves. He believes the etchings were made between 3,000 and 7,000 years ago when water levels in the region were lower.
