AP/ The long awaited deal...is finally done.
Poland and Russia signed an accord to increase imports of gas from Russia and insure its transit to other European countries.
Negotiations first began in early 2009.
Under the new deal, Poland's annual imports of Russian gas will rise from 265 billion cubic feet to more than 318 billion cubic feet in 2011 and to 360 billion cubic feet from 2012 through 2022.
Transit of Russian gas to Western Europe via Poland is also ensured through the year 2019 with a possibility of an extension through 2045.
