After a 4 year court battle, the more than $50 million usd left in 88-year-old Wilson Luco's will, to help the poor children of Panama will instead go to his already rich widow Hilda, the octogenarian matriarch of the Arias family, which has extensive media, property and financial interests. Panama's supreme court declared the will void in August.
"That money could have helped a lot of children. If that family keeps it God will not forgive them," said Hector Avila, head of a children's charity. "In this country political and economic forces weigh more than justice."
