MEXICO: Armed Men Rob Film Makers In Downtown D.F.
LAHT/ Armed men assaulted crew members and stole equipment valued at $24,300 from a film company shooting in a building in Mexico City’s historic downtown. The attack ocurred on a production of Director Arturo Ripstein’s film “Las razones del corazón,” an adaptation of Gustave Flaubert’s classic novel “Madame Bovary.” “Fortunately there was no loss of human life,” said Paz Garciadiego. She said the film crew had suffered a “huge scare” and confirmed that Ripstein – her husband – was not present when the attack occurred. Respected director Guillermo del Toro no longer lives or directs films in his homeland after his father was kidnapped in 1997, because authorities could not guarantee his safety or his family's.
